What to Bring:
To fully enjoy your Matahuru Valley Walk, it’s a good idea to come prepared. We’ve put together a list of suggested items below to help you get ready for the walk, ensuring you’re comfortable and well-equipped for the experience ahead.

- Tramping boots (strongly recommended) 
- Walking Poles (optional but preferred) 
- Day pack (big enough to hold lunch, warm clothes and water) 
- Towel (for your waterhole swim) 
- Swimwear 
- A large drink bottle (2 litre capacity recommended) and a Thermos (optional) if you would like a hot drink 
- Sun hat & beanie 
- Few changes of socks 
- Personal locater beacon (optional) 
- Clothing Suitable for walking 
- Good-sized lunch box, plus a small container if you would like to take left over salad on your walk 
- Toiletries 
- Camera/phone 
- If you have a special diet, any substitute items for breakfast and lunch that you think you may need - see our food section. 
- Bring your own nibbles and refreshments/alcoholic beverages 
Day Pack Suggestions:
-Few changes of socks - might get wet feet
-Shoes suitable to for stream crossing eg sandals/jandals/crocks.
